Catanduanes gov, wife test positive for COVID-19

LEGAZPI CITY — Catanduanes governor Joseph Cua and his wife tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Cua disclosed in a statement on Tuesday that they contracted the virus but are only manifesting mild symptoms.

“Rest assured that the Governor’s Office continues to function given that I am able to work online as I quarantine,” he said in a statement.

He said all personnel at the governor’s office and his family tested negative.

But the main building of capitol will be closed to the public on Wednesday morning for disinfection.

Regular work transactions will resume in the afternoon.

In a Department of Health – Bicol report, as of January 25, the province has 155 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
