MANILA, Philippines — A huge part of Luzon is expected to see cloudy weather and occasional rain showers as state meteorologists expect a fresh surge of the northeast monsoon or amihan.
Weather reports on Tuesday afternoon from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed that the tail end of a frontal system and the amihan are still affecting conditions in Luzon, especially for its eastern portion.
Residents of Nueva Viscaya, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, and Quezon province and even Metro Manila can expect cloudy skies and isolated light rains from Tuesday night to Wednesday due to the frontal system.
Meanwhile, northern Luzon would be most affected by the northeast monsoon. Previously, Pagasa said that they are expecting a new wave of the amihan in the middle of the week, which could make early morning and daytime temperatures lower than usual.
Despite the rains brought by the amihan and the tail end of a cold front, Pagasa noted that there are no weather disturbances or low pressure areas near the country’s area of responsibility.
Metro Manila’s forecast temperature for Wednesday goes a bit lower at 23 to 30 degrees Celsius, although it would still be colder up north at 21 to 27 degrees for Tuguegarao, 22 to 30 degrees for Laoag, and 15 to 23 degrees for Baguio City. Puerto Princesa would have something around 24 to 32 degrees, and 24 to 31 degrees for Legazpi.
Visayas and Mindanao would have warm and humid weather, but isolated rains are possible by afternoon and night. Temperatures over Cebu, Iloilo, and Tacloban range from 24 to 30 degrees Celsius, Davao and Zamboanga with 24 to 32 degrees, and Cagayan de Oro with 22 to 30 degrees.
No gale warnings are raised as of now, but Pagasa warned fisherfolk that sea conditions for Luzon’s northern, eastern, and western coastline would be moderate to rough, while the eastern waters of Visayas and Mindanao would be moderate.
The rest of the country would have slight to moderate seas.
