MMC to decide on the easing of age restrictions in MGCQ areas

MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Manila Council (MMC) will be the one to set the age restrictions for those allowed to go out of their homes following the recent rule that allows people in the 10 to 65 age group to go outside in areas under a modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

In an interview with DWIZ on Saturday, Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez, who is also the chairman of MMC, said the 17 Metro Manila mayors who compose the MMC, will be consulting experts for recommendations on the relaxed rules.

The MMC which is composed of all the mayors of Metro Manila, serves as the policy-making body for the metropolis.

(For cities under GCQ, it would be for the judgment of LGUs. The MMC will be having a meeting this Monday. OnTuesday night, we will again discuss this issue. We have invited experts to give data and recommendations on whether or not to allow children to go outside.)

All cities in Metro Manila, which is still under GCQ, have not allowed children aged below 18 years old into malls and have also barred minors from leaving their homes for leisure purposes.
