1,797 more Covid-19 infections raise PH active cases to 33,603

MANILA, Philippines — The severe respiratory disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 has infected 1,797 more people in the Philippines, raising the total number of infections to 511,679.

The Department of Health (DOH), in its Covid-19 case bulletin on Saturday, showed that the new infections have raised the number of active cases to 33,603, which is 6.6 percent of the total number of coronavirus disease cases nationwide.

Of the total number of active cases, 82.6 percent are considered mild, 11 percent are asymptomatic, 2.2 percent are severe and 0.41 percent are moderate.

Meanwhile, 166 more patients have recovered from the respiratory ailment while 54 additional patients have died of the disease. This raised the total number of recoveries and deaths to 467,886 and 10,190, respectively.

The nation’s health department again revised the country’s total Covid-19 tally after removing five duplicated cases.

Meanwhile, four molecular laboratories have failed to submit their data to DOH’s Covid-19 data respiratory system on Friday, Jan. 22.
