Drug suspect killed in Laguna encounter
LUCENA CITY – An alleged member of a local drug syndicate was killed in a firefight with police in Pagsanjan, in Laguna on Friday.
Capt. Ruffy Taduyo, Pagsanjan police chief said anti-narcotic agents were about to arrest Raniel Bataller, 30, after he sold shabu (crystal meth) to an undercover police officer when the suspect resisted arrest and fired at the law enforcers engaged the in Barangay Biñan around 1:45 a.m.
The police officers returned fire and fatally wounded Bataller.
Authorities recovered 15 sachets of shabu and a loaded .9mm caliber pistol from Bataller.
Police tagged Bataller, a barber by profession in Lumban town, as an alleged member of a drug group.
