DOJ still awaiting DOH request for locating 2 other contacts of UK variant patient

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) has yet to reach out to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for help in tracing the two still unlocated co-passengers of the Filipino infected with the UK Covid-19 variant.

The DOH said all but two of the 213 identified contacts of the 29-year-old Filipino patient have been traced and isolated. The male patient traveled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for a few days and returned to Manila on January 7 via Emirates Flight EK 332.

The DOH said in an online briefing that they have coordinated with the DOJ for help and they will be providing the name of the two passengers.

But Guevarra said: “As of today, we have not received any formal request for assistance from the DOH.”

“The DOH and the DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government) have an established system for contact tracing. The DOJ is not part of it. We’ll have to wait for their request. We will be ready to assist,” he added.
