PH logs 2,178 new infections; nationwide Covid-19 cases now at 509,887

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 2,178 new infections, driving nationwide Covid-19 cases to 509,887.

The health agency also reported 250 more recoveries and 20 additional deaths, bringing the total numbers to 467,720 and 10,136, respectively.

Of the 509,887, DOH said 32,031 are active cases with most or 83.6 percent labeled as mild while 9.5 percent are asymptomatic, 4.1 percent are critical, 2.3 percent are severe, and 0.42 percent are moderate.

DOH further reported eight duplicates that were removed from its data as well as the reclassification of five cases previously tagged as recoveries but were actually death cases after final validation.

DOH said three laboratories were not able to submit their inputs to the COVID-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on January 21.
