MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) and the tail-end of a frontal system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Palawan and the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon on Friday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Shelly Ignacio said in the 4a.m. update that the LPA was last spotted 220 kilometers east of Kalayaan Islands and still has a minimal  chance of developing into a storm.

“Itong LPA na ito ay mababa ang tsansa na maging ganap na bagyo pero continuous monitoring pa rin po tayo. Sa ngayon mababa po ang tsansa na ito ay magdevelop into a tropical depression. Inaasahan natin na sa susunod na isa hanggang tatlong araw ay ito po ay sasama sa tail-end of a frontal system,” she said.

(This LPA has a slim chance of developing into a storm but our monitoring continues. Right now it is not likely to develop into a tropical depression. We expect that in the next one to three days, it will join the tail-end of a frontal system.)

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Visayas and Mindanao will have hot and humid weather, with isolated rain showers also due to localized thunderstorms.
