BIR office in Eastern Visayas closed for disinfection against COVID-19

TACLOBAN CITY –– The regional office of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Eastern Visayas has been shut down since Wednesday after one of its workers tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In an advisory, BIR assistant regional director Edgar Quejada said they needed to disinfect their office and conduct contact tracing.

The BIR regional office located at the Government Center in Palo town, Leyte, is expected to reopen on Friday, Jan. 22.

The municipal hall in Pintuyan, Southern Leyte was again placed under lockdown until Friday after four of its employees tested positive for COVID-19.

As of Thursday, Eastern Visayas has 13,222 COVID-19 cases, of which 907 are active.
