6 co-passengers of Filipino from UAE with Covid-19-UK variant test negative for virus
CEBU CITY –– At least six persons from Central Visayas, who were co-passengers of the 29-year-old Filipino real estate agent infected with the United Kingdom (UK) Covid-19 variant, tested negative for the virus.
Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, spokesperson of the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7), said the six passengers from the region were swabbed and isolated until Jan. 23.
Three of them come from Cebu province, two from Bohol, and one from Negros Oriental.
Loreche clarified that one person in Central Visayas tested positive for Covid-19, but the passenger was not on the Emirates flight.
“The passenger came from another flight from the United States,” she said.
The passenger’s samples were sent to the genome center in Manila to determine if it is infected with the new Covid-19 variant.
