A car thief who realized that there was a child inside the car he had stolen returned to the owner to drop off the child before driving away again in Oregon, USA.

Aside from returning the boy to the car’s owner, Crystal Leary, the thief even scolded her and threatened to call the police on her for leaving her child in the car, as per KPTV last Saturday, Jan. 16.

Leary was at a Basics Meat Market just after 9 a.m. on the same day. She said she entered the store to quickly grab groceries and left the car running at the parking lot with her son inside.

While she was in the store, a man hopped into her car and drove away, only to drive back to drop off the son before leaving with the car again.

“As moms we get really busy and we think we’re just running in for a second and this is just a perfect example of just letting our guards down and how terribly it could have ended, so I’m just thankful that he’s OK and it was so stupid and I’ll never do that again, but it’s that split second decision that could just change everything,” Leary told the news station.

Police are still looking for the car, a 2013 silver Honda Pilot, and the thief, who remains unidentified. The boy, however, was said to be unharmed. Ian Biong /ra
