MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.2 earthquake rattled Eastern Samar on Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake struck at 2:53 p.m. at 25 kilometers southeast of Homonhon Island (Guiuan).
Phivolcs said the earthquake was of tectonic origin and had a 39-kilometer depth of focus.
State seismologists said the earthquake was also felt at Instrumental Intensity II in Borongan City, Eastern Samar, and Instrumental Intensity I in Surigao City.
No aftershocks or damage was expected from the earthquake, Phivolcs added.
