Elderly woman dies in Quezon City house fire

MANILA, Philippines — An elderly woman was killed in a fire that broke out in her house in Quezon City on Wednesday morning, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.

The fire broke out at around 6:22 a.m. in the kitchen of the one-storey house owned by the victim, Grace Juat, 63, which was located at Aqua Street Fernvill Subdivision, Barangay (village) Pasong Tamo.

The fire reached the first alarm at 6:34 a.m. and was placed under control at 7:08 a.m.

The BFP declared the fire extinguished at 7:33 a.m.

No one else was hurt in the incident. No other houses were also affected by the fire, the BFP said.

Damage to property was placed at P50,000. The BFP said it is still investigating the cause of the fire.
