TUGUEGARAO CITY –– The regional inter-agency task force on Tuesday approved the 10-day enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) for this city starting Wednesday, Jan. 20, to curb the rising number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

Mayor Jefferson Soriano said the city would implement measures to reduce the infections after the city was tagged as a high-risk area.

On Jan. 16, the city registered 84 new COVID-19 cases, the highest it recorded since the pandemic began.

Soriano said dine-in at restaurants would be prohibited, and essential businesses required to operate with a 50-percent workforce.

Soriano has also imposed a liquor ban and aggressive community testing for 1,500 people.

He said, however, that classes would continue, and teachers would be allowed to distribute modules but with limited movement and a skeletal workforce.
