MANILA, Philippines—A Chinese national was arrested while selling two kilos of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a poseur buyer in Quezon City before dawn Thursday.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Undersecretary Jose Gutierrez Jr. identified the Chinese national as Clarence Chen Go, a.k.a. Tony Go, a 36-year-old native of Xiamen, China.
He said Go was arrested along Timog Avenue near Tomas Morato in Quezon City around 1 a.m. after handing-over a “gift-wrapped” package containing one kilogram of shabu to the PDEA agent who pretended as a buyer. Further search yielded two other “gift-wrapped” packages each containing 500 grams of shabu.
A week ago, Gutierrez said that Go agreed to sell one kilogram of shabu for P3.6 million to undercover PDEA agents through a bank.
“Go and his group normally transacts through banks before delivery,” he said.
Gutierrez said that Go has been under the surveillance of PDEA’s Case Operation Plan: Iceman “to neutralize threat posed by the group responsible for the proliferation of drugs in Metro Manila and other nearby areas.”
