LUCENA CITY — Police arrested 203 suspected law violators in Quezon province in two days of synchronized anti-crime operations.
Police Colonel Ericson Dilag, Quezon police chief, reported on Monday (Jan. 18) that authorities seized a total of 30.2 grams of shabu (crystal meth) and 25.86 grams of dried marijuana leaves during the “Simultaneous Enhanced Managing Police Operations” (SEMPO) from Jan. 16 to 17.
Police report said 29 of the 203 suspects were alleged drug pushers.
Confiscated shabu and marijuana have an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P208,400.
Also arrested during the operations were 51 wanted criminals, of which three were said to belong to the top 10 wanted felons in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Rizal) region, while eight others belonged to wanted lists in different municipalities.
Police teams also caught 107 violators for illegal gambling, five illegal fishers, an illegal logger, five illegal cutters of coconut trees, and one for illegal possession of firearm.
Authorities also reported the surrender of 10 assorted illegal firearms.
The rest of the suspects were arrested for violations of local ordinances in two cities and 39 towns in the province.
“We will continue to intensify our campaign against illegal drugs, most wanted persons, criminalities and all forms of crime to ensure the maintenance of peace and order in Quezon province,” Dilag said in a statement.
Dilag replaced Colonel Audie Madrideo as Quezon police chief early this month.
