MANILA, Philippines — Eastern Visayas and Bicol Region will experience cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms on Tuesday due to a low pressure area (LPA) and the tail-end of a frontal system, the weather bureau said.
The LPA was last spotted 65 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. It is embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and is affecting Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its daily weather bulletin.
Meanwhile, the tail-end of a frontal system is affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon and the northeast monsoon is affecting the rest of Luzon.
The LPA will likewise bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga, Western and Central Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Quezon.
Pagasa warned residents that flash floods and landslides may occur.
Cloudy skies with light rains will prevail over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Aurora due to the northeast monsoon.
It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
No significant impact is to be expected, Pagasa said.
The rest of Mindanao, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms, which may cause flash floods or landslides, the weather bureau warned.
Moderate to strong winds from southeast to northeast and moderate to rough coastal waters will prevail over the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.
Luzon and the rest of Visayas will experience moderate to strong winds in the northeast direction and moderate to rough sea conditions.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said light to moderate winds from northeast to northwest, coupled with slight to moderate coastal conditions, will be experienced over the rest of Mindanao.
