Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Monday said the National Bureau of Investigation would check the contents of the cell phones of those linked to the death of Christine Dacera to look for clues regarding allegations that she was raped and killed. Guevarra said the NBI had finished the forensic examination on the body of the 23-year-old flight attendant, but declined to disclose the findings. The accused, among them Dacera’s close friends, had denied police investigators’ claims they had raped and murdered her, arguing that they were gay men. “The NBI digital forensic team will now proceed to examine the data in the mobile phones of the persons of interest,” Guevarra said. Dacera had attended a New Year’s Eve party with her friends in a Makati hotel before she was found dead in a bathtub of a hotel room. —Marlon Ramos
