Six months after the rape-slay of a 15-year-old girl by two police officers, justice remains elusive for her bereaved family as only one of the suspects was dismissed from service, the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) said on Monday. The girl was shot on her way home from the Cabugao police station in Ilocos Sur province by motorcycle-riding gunmen, who had followed her after she filed a molestation complaint against Police Staff Sergeants Randy Ramos and Marawi Torda. Ramos and Torda are the main suspects in her killing, and are also accused of molesting the girl’s cousin. Only Ramos was dismissed while Torda was cleared due to lack of sufficient evidence, CHR spokesperson Jacqueline de Guia said. —Krixia Subingsubing
