Senate honors late MMDA chair Danilo Lim, condoles with kin
MANILA, Philippines — The Senate on Monday expressed its condolences on the death of Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairperson Danilo Lim.
Senators adopted Senate Resolution No. 613 expressing the chamber’s “profound sympathy and sincere condolences” to Lim’s family.
Lim died last Jan. 6, more than a week after he confirmed that he tested positive for coronavirus. He was 65.
In the resolution filed by Senator Risa Hontiveros, Lim was described as someone whose life was “dedicated to the pursuit of excellence.”
“He didn’t fulfill the adage that old soldiers never die, but he will never fade away,” Hontiveros said in her sponsorship speech.
“General Danny Lim, as most people who know him can attest, was an intellectual giant. Even as a young child growing up in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, he was always known for his brilliance and perseverance,” she added.

“Conversations with him were always provocative and provided a window to his thoughts, his ideas, and perhaps also to his inner conflicts,” she added.
Senator Francis Tolentino, who previously served as an MMDA chairman, described Lim as a “good friend.”
Lim, according to Tolentino, lived “in pursuit of love for his country.”
“I convey my sympathies to the MMDA family, his personal family, loved ones, and he will be deeply remembered,” he said.
