Fewer Masses to celebrate Santo Niño feast

MANILA, Philippines — There will be fewer Masses during the Feast of Santo Niño in Tondo and Pandacan on Sunday.

Instead of 33 Masses, there will only be 11 at the Santo Niño de Tondo Parish, and nine instead of 15 at the Santo Niño de Pandacan Parish.

At an online briefing on Friday, priests Estelito Villegas of the Santo Niño de Tondo and Gilbert Kabigting of the Santo Niño de Pandacan said only 300 people out of the 2,000 usual attendees were allowed per Mass at the Tondo parish, while only 150 of its 700 capacity would be allowed in Pandacan.

Among the canceled activities during the feast are the Kumpilang Bayan, Lakbay Barangay and Lakbay Parokya (or the visit of the Santo Niño statue in barangay and cities), Lakbayaw, motorcades and blessing of the images, processions and street parties.

Baptism is only canceled in the Tondo parish.
