DOH tallies 2,048 new Covid-19 infections as active cases mount to 27,033

MANILA, Philippines — An additional 2,048 patients were tested positive for the 2019 novel coronavirus disease as of Friday, bringing the total number of active cases to 27,033.

The Covid-19 case bulletin from the Department of Health (DOH) added that 551 have recovered from the disease, increasing the total count of recovered patients to 459,737 or 92.6 percent of the total case count which is at 496,646.

However, 137 more patients died. The death toll is now at 9,876.

Most of the patients with active virus cases or 84.5 percent experience mild symptoms, while 7.4 percent are asymptomatic.  Another 2.8 percent have severe symptoms, while 4.9 percent are in critical condition.

A huge chunk of the additional cases in the country came from Bulacan with 98, followed by Davao City (89), Pangasinan (84), City of Manila (80), and Leyte (73).
