THE NLEX Road Warriors aim for a repeat title performance as they start their best-of-three finals series against Freego Jeans today in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena In Pasig City.
Game One of the best-of-three series is scheduled at 3 p.m. with the Road Warriors presenting a nightmare of a match-up against the Jeans Makers, with the bench depth, athleticism and overall talent.
During their only meeting in the elimination round, NLEX routed Freego Jeans, 76-59.
Freego hopes its familiarity with one another will pay dividends against the all-star cast of NLEX, which stars NCAA MVP Calvin Abueva, Garvo Lanete, Dave Marcelo, former UAAP MVP RR Garcia and Eman Monfort, among others.
Eight of Freego Jeans’ players—Lionel Manyara, Lester Alvarez, Eric Camson, Rodney Brondial, Roider Cabrera, Janus Lozada, Alex Nuyles and Ryan Monteclaro—has played under Austria the past four years in the UAAP. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
