Anti-corruption task force receives 144 complaints

MANILA, Philippines — The task force ordered by President Duterte to look into corruption in the government has so far received 144 complaints, most of which involve public works projects, according to Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.

The task force against corruption will also take over the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission’s investigation on corruption in public works projects where some lawmakers were allegedly involved.

Guevarra, who heads the task force, said they had evaluated 60 of the 144 complaints filed as of Jan. 11.

“We are still in the fact-finding and verification stages of the allegations in the complaints. Some of them may be politically motivated,” he told reporters. —TINA G. SANTOS
