Cop shot dead in Laguna
SAN PEDRO CITY –– A policeman assigned to the Calabarzon regional police headquarters was gunned down in Cabuyao City, Laguna on Thursday, Jan. 14.
Investigators did not immediately confirm whether the victim, police Staff Sergeant Christian Ramos, was on duty at the time, but said he was on board his motorcycle headed towards Barangay Casile when the gunmen shot him at 9:40 a.m. along Yulo Road in Barangay Pittland.
Ramos was a resident of Calaca town in Batangas.
The gunmen, who were also aboard a motorcycle, fled immediately after the incident, an initial police report said.
The Cabuyao City police said Ramos died on the spot. They also recovered from the crime scene several spent bullets from two kinds of firearms — a 9mm pistol and a .45 caliber handgun.
