Liquor ban imposed on Lingayen anew due to surging Covid-19 cases

DAGUPAN CITY –– Pangasinan’s capital town of Lingayen imposed a liquor ban again due to the alarming increase in the number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.

In an executive order, Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil said the liquor ban would start on Thursday, Jan. 14, and end on March 31.

Bataoil said the ban would cover the sale and distribution of liquor or alcoholic beverages and the consumption in public places.

He said alcohol drinking in public places attracts crowds and leads to non-observance of physical distancing and the possible spread of COVID-19.

There are currently 24 active COVID-19 cases in the town.

Lingayen is the fourth local government unit in Pangasinan to impose liquor again. The three others are Dagupan City, Calasiao, and Binmaley.
