Student fleeing checkpoint arrested after P4.39M in marijuana spills from bag in road crash
TUGUEGARAO CITY—A 19-year-old student was arrested after he was caught with 35 marijuana bricks worth P4.39-million in Tabuk City on Monday (Jan. 11), police said.
Col. Davy Vicente Limmong, Kalinga police director, identified the suspect as Jayvee Dave Saguilod Paklay who tried to slip past a police checkpoint.
Police chased the motorcycle-riding Paklay who later figured in a road crash as he drove too fast.
When the responding lawmen tried to help Paklay, the suspect’s bag yielded strewn marijuana bricks.
Police said the marijuana bricks, weighing at least 36 kilos, might have come from the village of Loccong in Tinglayan town, Kalinga province.
