MANILA, Philippines — Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Wednesday said that the proposed amendment in the economic revisions to the 1987 Constitution would help in the recovery of the economy, which has been greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Thirty-three years na po itong ating Constitution at iba po ang ating sitwasyon ngayon,” Go said in an interview with reporters.
“Paga-aralan natin yung mga provisions kasi kailangan natin ng more investments going back to our recovery and going back to our restoration of normalcy sa ating bayan ay marami po dapat silipin dyan to encourage investors dahil marami pong nawalan ng trabaho,” he added.
(We need to study these provisions because we need more investments going back to our recovery and going back to our restoration of normalcy for the people. This has to be looked into to encourage investors since many have lost their jobs.)
The House committee on constitutional amendments earlier tackled Resolution of Both Houses No. 2, which seeks to amend provisions that prevent foreign ownership of land and businesses in the country and to ease restrictions on ownership and management of mass media, public utilities, educational institutions, investments, and foreign capital.
