Man, 82, dies from COVID-19 in Olongapo; death toll now at 41

OLONGAPO CITY — An 82-year-old man with a lung ailment was the latest fatality related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in this city, officials said on Tuesday.

Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr., said the man had undergone a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction or RT-PCR test when he was admitted to the hospital on Monday.

But the patient died pending the release of the RT-PCR result, which turned out to be positive for the virus.

He was the 41st COVID-19-related death in the city, Paulino said.

The city has logged a total of 1,026 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in March 2021. At least 24 of these are active cases, while 961 have recovered.
