Dagupan logs 3 new COVID-19 deaths

DAGUPAN CITY –– Three new deaths related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded here on Monday, officials said.

The new fatalities raised to 43 the total number of deaths in the city due to the disease, according to the city information office.

The active COVID-19 cases here also surged to 207, the highest since the start of the pandemic in March last year.

Mayor Benjamin Lim has ordered the closure of the four public markets every Thursday for sanitation to prevent the virus from further spreading.

He also shut down cockpit arenas, banned swimming in Tondaligan beach, and imposed longer curfew hours.

Lim has sealed a deal for the purchase of 40,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from British pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca.
