UP says application portal experiencing ‘bottleneck’
MANILA, Philippines — The University of the Philippines (UP) said Monday there is now a bottleneck situation in its application portal.
“There is now a bottleneck in the application portal immediately within the first 72 hours after we went live. The waiting time for receiving verification codes is affected, taking at least 4 hours in the queue,” an advisory from the UP Office of Admissions read.
The office advised applicants to avoid multiple sign-ups since doing so will generate multiple verification codes. It added that due to the bottleneck in the applications, an earlier received code will not be valid for the most recent sign-up.
“Due to traffic, we suggest to sign up after a few days so we can decongest the system, and to go online 11pm to 9am (Manila time),” the UP office said.
“Please be assured that our servers are up. It is the volume of verification requests that congested the traffic. We will attend to the issues the best we can. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience,” it added.
The UP has started accepting applications for first-year students on January 7 through an online portal, without the usual UP College Admissions Test, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
