High-value drug suspect nabbed in Ilocos town

LAOAG CITY –– Police on Sunday arrested a drug suspect, who was in the Ilocos region’s top 10 watch list.

The suspect, Benigno Menrige II, was arrested during an entrapment operation around noon in Sarrat town, said Chief Master Sergeant Harold Nicolas, team leader of the Ilocos Norte provincial drug enforcement unit.

Menrige, a high-value drug suspect and allegedly the leader of the “Menrige Drug Group” operating in the province, was allegedly caught with 26 sachets of “shabu” (crystal meth) worth around P19,000.

He would be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
