Bicol logs 50 COVID-19 cases in single day

LEGAZPI CITY — Bicol has logged 50 active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Saturday, the highest contagion rate recorded for the first 10 days of 2021.

The new patients bring the total of active cases in the region to 458, the Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol said.

DOH COVID tracker update as of Saturday said that of the newly recorded cases, Camarines Sur province has the highest with 34, followed by Masbate with nine, Albay with six, and Sorsogon with one case.

The DOH tracker data showed that for the period March to Jan. 9, the region has a cumulative total of 3,789 cases with 3,176 or 83.8 percent recoveries.

The 458 active cases or 12 percent of the total figure are still sick while 155 or 4 percent are recorded deaths.

The Bicol Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (BIATF) urged the public to be vigilant and strictly follow the health protocols to prevent a spike in COVID-19 cases.
