DOLE official dies of cardiac arrest due to COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) claimed the life of an official of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Sunday.
DOLE said Undersecretary Joji Aragon died of cardiac arrest due to COVID-19.
“It is believed that she contracted the virus following a procedure she underwent in the second week of December last year,” the labor department said in a statement.
DOLE asked for prayers for the “eternal repose of the soul” of Aragon, who headed the advocacy, productivity, and legislative cluster of the department.
“The entire DOLE family, headed by Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III, grieves her untimely demise,” it said.
“Our deepest sympathies and condolences to her bereaved family,” DOLE added.
