Soldiers killed in Negros Occidental clash

BACOLOD CITY—Two soldiers were killed while another was wounded in a clash with communist guerrillas on Tuesday in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

The clash came after soldiers claimed they had overrun rebel camps in Sipalay City.

Soldiers belonging to the 62nd Infantry Battalion were on patrol in Cadiz City when they encountered a group of rebels, leading to the clash.

The military said Pfc. Crispy Ryan Toledo and Pfc. Nazario Buenavidez were killed. Sgt. Alfredo Isidro Jr. was wounded and is in stable condition in a hospital here.

The Cadiz City clash came two days after soldiers said they overrun two rebel camps in Sipalay City and killed a rebel. Carla P. Gomez, Inquirer Visayas
