ZAMBOANGA CITY, Zamboanga del Sur—Two construction workers were electrocuted while trying to evade a hanging live wire along the road in Santa Maria village here at around noontime on Friday.
Police Captain Albin Cabayacruz, commander of the Santa Maria police station 7, told the INQUIRER, that one of the men died on the spot while the other is now confined at the Western Mindanao Medical Center.
The two men were supposed to deliver polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes to a construction site in Navarro Court Subdivision
Cabayacruz identified the victims as Kadil Hashim, 30, and Nabel Kasla, 22, both working for JL Construction and Enterprises.
Hashim was trying to veer their delivery truck away from the hanging live wire while Kasla climbed to the top of the truck to keep the wire away from the truck, said Cabayacruz.
Kasla accidentally touched the live wire and died instantly from electrocution, the police official added.
Hashim is now in stable condition at the hospital.
