War on trafficking

Two groups helping combat human trafficking in the Philippines have entered into an agreement to work closely together to stop the trafficking of women and minors from Western and Eastern Samar.

In a statement, the groups Millennium Challenge Account-Philippines (MCA-P) and Visayan Forum Foundation Inc. said the partnership is an answer to government’s call for cooperation in the war on trafficking.

The agreement, said MCA-P managing director and chief executive officer Ma. Victoria Anonuevo, “is only an initial but nonetheless a significant step toward safeguarding our project areas against this modern-day slavery that victimizes mostly the poorest sectors of our society.”
