Former Ilocos Sur vice mayor shot dead

MANILA, Philippines – A former vice mayor of Ilocos Sur was shot dead Tuesday evening by still unidentified suspects in the province, a Philippine National Police official said Wednesday.

Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said that Anthony Purisima Que a.k.a “Tony Boy”, 55, former vice Mayor of Sto. Domingo, was gunned down along Barangay (village) Poblacion West, San Ildefonso, around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday. No information, however, as to how the shooting incident took place was available as of posting time.

The victim was brought to the hospital but didn’t survive, he said.

Investigation is ongoing, he said.
