DELFIN ALBANO, Isabela—The town’s deputy police chief and three other persons in authority were removed from their posts and faced administrative charges for alcoholic drink consumption in the town’s police station and theft of an Armalite rifle, authorities said on Friday (Jan. 8).
Sacked was Lt. Noel Baccay, who was caught drinking wine with his brother-in-law, San Nicolas village chief Dario Reyes Jr. and two other village officials—councilman Vicente Maddara Jr. and watchman Jimboy Managuelod.
Capt. Fresiel Dela Cruz, the town’s police chief, said Baccay would also be demoted and suspended without pay.
Dela Cruz said Baccay “could also face dismissal from service.”
Baccay, Reyes, Maddara and Managuelod were also charged administratively with drinking at the police station’s kitchen and taking the Armalite of another policeman.
They were also charged with grave threat and robbery in connection with a confrontation with the policeman to whom the Armalite was issued.
Baccay said he had planned to sleep at the station after his duty when he decided to drink wine at the station’s kitchen with his relatives.
He had asked for forgiveness, adding that he would welcome all charges against him.
