MANILA, Philippines — A rainy, cloudy Friday is expected in the Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol region and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) due to a low pressure area (LPA) near Davao City and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said Friday.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Shelly Ignacio said the LPA was spotted some at 240 kilometers east of Davao City at 3:00 a.m.
“Ang LPA po na ito ay mababa ang tsansa maging ganap na bagyo in the next 24 hours pero continuous monitoring po tayo,” Ignacio said.
(This LPA has a slim chance of becoming a storm in the next 24 hours but we will continuously monitor this.)
Meanwhile, Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the ITCZ.
The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will continue to affect Luzon, bringing cloudy skies light rains over Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also brought by the northeast monsoon.
