MANILA, Philippines — The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 482,083 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,353 new infections on Thursday.
The new infections bolstered the number of active cases to 23,675, DOH said in its daily case bulletin.
Of the active cases, 82.3% have mild symptoms, 8.4% are asymptomatic, 3.1% have severe symptoms, while 5.8% are in critical condition.
Three hundred and sixty more COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease while nine others have died of it, bringing the total to 449,052 recoveries and 9,356 deaths.
Rizal registered the most number of new coronavirus infections with 63 cases, followed by Laguna (62), Marikina City (60), Quezon City (58), and Davao City (54).
The DOH said it removed seven duplicates from the total case count, five of which are recovered cases.
Meanwhile, three cases previously tagged as recoveries have been reclassified as deaths.
Three laboratories were not able to submit their data on Jan. 6, the DOH said.
