Cop tailed from police camp, shot to death in Maguindanao town

COTABATO CITY –– Authorities have launched a manhunt against two men who shot dead a police officer Wednesday evening, Jan. 6, in Sultan Kudarat town, Maguindanao.

Major Julhamin Asdani, Sultan Kudarat municipal police chief, identified the victim as Police Corporal Mark Tendero, 24, a resident of Libungan town, Cotabato province.

Tendero, who was assigned with the Bangsamoro police regional headquarters in Parang town, was heading home on a motorbike when four men on two motorbikes tailed him.

As he approached Barangay Simuay of Sultan Kudarat town, the men on back-ride opened fire using cal. 45 pistols.

Tendero died on the spot due to gunshot wounds in the head and body.

Asdani said witnesses recounted that the suspects followed Tendero as he left Parang town. A CCTV footage showing images of the possible suspects are now in police custody.
