MANGALDAN, Pangasinan –– A 39-year-old woman in this town was shot dead inside her house on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Maria Theresa Ambas, a resident of Barangay Macayug, was shot several times by the unidentified assailant, who barged into her house around 1:30 p.m., investigators said.
Police said the gunman fled the crime scene onboard a motorcycle.
A retired US Navy officer identified as Rommer Gonzales, 40, was later arrested and detained by the police after witnesses pointed at him as the alleged assailant.
The suspect and the victim reportedly had a relationship. The victim had just given birth to their child.
Police were eyeing a love triangle or child custody battle among the possible motives behind the killing.
