Isolated rain showers expected nationwide — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Mindanao will experience scattered rain showers due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) while several areas in Luzon will have light rains due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” the state weather bureau said Thursday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the Caraga, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen regions will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.

Pagasa warned of possible flash floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, parts of Luzon will experience light rains and cold winds due to the northeast monsoon.

Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region will have cloudy skies with light rains while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

“Dala nga ho nitong amihan ay malamig na simoy ng hangin sa madaling araw hanggang sa umaga at maging sa dakong gabi,” Pagasa weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz said.

(The northeast monsoon brings cool winds  in the early morning hours and at night.)

Visayas and the rest of Mindanao, on the other hand, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Dela Cruz said the state weather bureau is not monitoring any low pressure area in the Philippine area of responsibility.

“Wala ring bagyong inaasahan at least in the next 24 to 36 hours,” she added.

(No typhoon is expected in the next 24 to 36 hours.)
