SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya –– The death of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA)Chair Danilo Lim was an “extremely sad day” for his town mates here, said Gov. Carlos Padilla on Wednesday.
Lim passed away at the age of 65 just days after announcing that he contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Dec. 29.
Padilla said Lim, a proud son of Nueva Vizcaya, was his “very close and good friend.”
In a statement, the governor said Lim’s accomplishments were “sterling” as the retired military general “[was] an exceptional brave leader and a truly down-to-earth and honest working man.”
“He will always be remembered for his principles and patriotism, truly an icon for all Novo Vizcayanos,” Padilla added.
Florante Gerdan, a Novo Vizcayano, said he has “so much respect for Lim as an officer and a gentleman.”
Another resident, Pula Garcia, said he looked up to Lim for his public service.
Lim was born on June 2, 1955 in this town and was the youngest among five brothers.
He finished elementary and high school here with honors.
Lim was a West Point graduate, one of the only a few who served in the Philippine military with a West Point degree.
