MANILA, Philippines — The tally of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines surpassed the 480,000 mark after the Department of Health (DOH) logged 1,047 new infections on Wednesday.
According to the DOH’s daily case bulletin, of the 480,737 total case count, 22,690 are considered active cases.
The majority, or 81.8% of the active cases, have mild symptoms, 8.5% are asymptomatic, 3.2% are having severe symptoms, while 6% are in critical condition.
The DOH also reported 339 new recoveries and 26 fatalities, raising the total to 448,700 and 9,347, respectively.
Davao City logged the most number of new coronavirus infections with 79 cases, followed by Quezon City (58), Laguna (55), Bulacan (40), and Cagayan de Oro City (40).
DOH said it removed three duplicates from the total case count, one of which is a recovered case.
Meanwhile, 13 cases previously tagged as recoveries are reclassified as deaths.
