Damage from Negros Occidental floods reaches P16.5M

BACOLOD CITY –– The damage due to recent floods in three cities and one town in Negros Occidental has reached at least P16.5 million, according to Provincial Agriculturist Japhet Masculino.

The worst hit was Victorias City, where at least P5,219,910 worth of crops were damaged.

EB Magalona town followed at P4,284,000; Silay City, P1,695, 832; Cadiz City, P302,381; and Sagay City, P52,575.

The damage to high-value crops in Silay City reached P840,600, while damage to bangus fishponds in EB Magalona was pegged at P4,120, 790.

The flash floods from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1 were triggered by heavy rains.
