MANILA, Philippines—Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas warned eight of 11 men who were at the New Year party with flight attendant Christine Angelica Dacera at a Makati City hotel where she was found unconscious to surrender in 72 hours or be hunted down.
Three of the 11 men, who were named respondents in an initial charge of rape with homicide filed by the Makati police on Monday (Jan. 4), have surfaced.
“This is a fair warning. Surrender within 72 hours or we will hunt you down using force if necessary,” Sinas said in a statement late on Tuesday (Jan. 5), addressing the eight other suspects.
“We know who you are. Your family must turn you over to the police,” Sinas said. “Those found to be abetting your escape will also be arrested,” he said.
He assured Dacera’s family that justice will be served for the 23-year-old flight attendant.
Dacera was found unconscious and unresponsive in a bathtub of one of two rooms at the hotel on New Year’s Day. She was rushed by three friends and hotel staff to a hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival from aneurysm.
An initial charge of rape with homicide was filed by the Makati City police against 11 men who were with Dacera in the hotel rooms for a New Year’s Eve party pending the submission of the autopsy findings and toxicology reports on Dacera.
