MANILA, Philippines — Some areas in the country will experience cloudy skies and rains within the next 24 hours due to an Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” the weather bureau said Tuesday.
In its weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said the ITCZ is affecting Mindanao while the northeast monsoon is affecting Northern and Central Luzon.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ are expected over Caraga and Davao Region.
Pagasa warned residents that flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to heavy rains.
Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Northern Quezon are forecast to experience cloudy skies with isolated light rains brought about by the northeast monsoon.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will likewise prevail over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of CALABARZON due to the northeast monsoon, Pagasa said.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Residents were told to watch out for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds in the northeast direction will be experienced over Luzon, coupled with moderate to rough sea waters.
The Visayas and Mindanao, meanwhile, will have light to moderate winds from east to northeast and slight to moderate coastal conditions.
