LUCENA CITY –– Two more coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients died in Quezon province on Sunday and Monday, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) said in its 10 a.m. report on Jan. 4.
The IPHO disclosed that a COVID-19 patient died in Candelaria town on Monday, while another patient from Unisan town died on Sunday.
The COVID-19 death toll in Quezon has risen to 190.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the province is down to 247 as of Monday, the IPHO report shows.
The figure is the lowest daily tally of active COVID-19 cases since the significant decline started last December.
The IPHO recorded 845 COVID-19 cases in December, a figure remarkably lower than November’s 1,612 cases.
Quezon, which is under the modified general community quarantine, logged a total of 6,253 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic was declared in early March, but 5,816 of them had recuperated.
At least 18 of the 41 municipalities in Quezon province no longer have any recorded coronavirus disease cases, according to the IPHO.
Those previously infected in the COVID-19-free municipalities have either recovered or died, the report shows.
